This is an irresistible full-bodied red from the village of Kisjakábfalva (Swabian: "Jackfall") in southern Hungary. This rich and complex Cabernet Franc single-handedly explains why critics have called Hungary the "new home" of Cabernet Franc. The wine has a delicious core of red currant, ripe cherry, fruitcake, rose and licorice, with a concentrated body and creamy, lengthy finish. Pure and focused. Varietals: Cabernet Franc (100%). Fermentation was spontaneous with native yeasts. The wine was aged in new and old Hungarian barrels for 12-16 months. Alcohol: 14.5%
About the winemaker
The Jackfall Winery was founded in 2001 in Villány, in the south of Hungary. It gets its name from the Swabian name for the village of Kisjakabfalva (“Jackfall”), where the winery is located. Currently the winery has 12 hectares, largely in Kisharsány and Nagytófalu, which are both adjacent to the winery. The winery is known for its fuller-bodied, beautifully aromatic, elegant red wines, a testament to the region of Villány and its winemaking culture.
